Just thought id share an environment test.

not really much too it, was just trying to achieve some kinda lightning with water reflections.

if anyone has any tips on how to make the rain a bit more realistic id be happy to hear!

Nice effect.

You could make it more realistic by making the clouds a bit more gray. They are too much blue now. Also, rain falling straight down seems strange, give it an angle.

Quite nice, like how the sounds seems to react on the effect.
Good rain sound btw, something that really bothers me in a lot of games is the fake rain, and this is quite good!

You could really do some great atmospheric things with it.

Can you try something for me, just for fun?
I am a fan of sci-fi worlds and i am wondering how that enorvirement would look when you turn it purple (like so http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_poHel5EgX6Y/T ... e-sky6.jpg)

What did you use for the sky btw, just a skybox?

sorry if im a bit shy, but i think this is not the apropriate rainfall sound.
it look like it fall on concrete, not on water, but yet, i really loooovee the thunder sound and lightning effect, on how it affect the cloud of the skydome!

Thanks Sodan,

SirDude0Lot :
Thanks!, and yes i defintely agree, i dislike the use of fake rain in games, i find it especially noticable when listening to in surround sound.

As Fcore pointed out, the rain in this is recorded from a building as its quite difficult to record stormy rain over sea water ^.^.

im sure i could edit the droplet sound to seem more splashy though.

Its a skydome with mutliple layers, using a huge image with spots on it. when the other layers that are using "add" or additive roll over it brightens the texture. giving the appearence of lightning, in actual fact its an unusual use of the NA demo skydome.

@SirDude0Lot, yes ill have ago at the purple feel :D

it definitely needs more atmosphere.

Looks pretty well, what method have you used to create such rain? Just very big particle system, attached to the player or something else?

thanks!, Yes the rain is created using a particle system, using addative textures and a small amount of emission to make it reflect off the water.

Maxwolf had suggested that i attach a particle system to the player so that it was less cpu heavy, however for the moment its just one huge particle emitter covering the map.

Nethrix - would you mind sharing any of the source for this? I'd be interested in looking at this.
