Hi everyone,

We are developing some features for one company.
I need add ability to set custom selection bounds for selectable objects in FPS demo (switches, buttons).
screenshot:

It is means, i need ability to set sphere bounds for each entity type. User-friendly way is if designer sets it visually. Same as configuring any attached object.

I can make special attached object class, which will render sphere bounds in the Resource Editor.

--------

What you think? You will use this feature?
Examples?

Hi Ivan.

I have proposed for the work of Flash that we use for graphical capabilities and comfort to the user.

How can be added to the flash engine.

for example :

Hello,

I bump this post after a search.
I am coding a visualization application, and it appears that I need this feature now : I need to compute the "screen rectangle" occupied by an object (in order to compute label positioning properly, so as not to put the label "on the object", but near, with a leader line to "connect" the object and the label).
I was about to code something by getting a box or a Bounds of an object (the box is better, possible to get it by using the "GetBox()" function, visible on MapObject for example), and then "projecting" all the box corner to screen space. I suspect this could be slow (then I will have to use it carrefully)...

If per chance, Ivan, you still plan to include it, I see plainly now how usefull this could be...
Regards,

There is already a function in ActionGameWindow called void DrawObjectSelectionBorder( Bounds bounds )
It shows how to project bounds into screen space rectangle.

Regarding the topic I think it would be useful to be able making custom attached types.

cool, I will have a look at that (I suspect there was, but didnt found it).

Yes, I second that. Such a feature would allow to control the selection border more precisely (with user defined adjustment), and allow the selection of a "sub part" of a mapobject. This way one can specify multiple "selection bounds objects" and use them in some way too deal with "sub selection". Useful for a localized targeting system, like a V.A.T.S in Fallout3, or "Target the engine or shield generator" in space sims or RTS).
Regards,
